Syracuse Player Quotes - Seattle
Syracuse Men’s Basketball
Syracuse vs. Seattle
November 16, 2019
Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
Marek Dolezaj, Jr., F
Can you talk about how you felt Joseph (Girard III) played tonight?
"Joe played great tonight. He’s a freshman but he’s playing like a senior. If he keeps playing like this he’ll help make us really hard to beat."
Does he have a presence out there?
"Yeah, you know he had a couple steals, a couple assists. He always moves the ball and tries to get it to us. You know he’s great."
This is one of the better shooting teams you’ve had in your time here. What does having those shooters do for guys like you down low and slashing?
"A lot. They cannot help very much when you drive. If they help then just pass the ball and they’ll take a three. If they don’t help you can drive because most of it is one on one. So, they help you a lot."
Joseph Girard III, Fr. G:
Were you in the zone tonight? You didn’t miss a shot in the second half.
"It is what it is, you know when you go out there you have to shoot the open shots. The bigs did a really good job getting me open on the screens and the guards also did a really good job getting me into open spots, so, then it was just up to me to make the open shot."
What emotions were you experiencing tonight, maybe before the game?
"Before the game it was the same. Coach is going to have you in there, its what you do when you’re in there. Tonight, it was the beginning of the game. Obviously its everybody’s dream and everybody’s goal. I just have to go in there and produce when I’m in and help the team win games."
"What did you see from a play-making sense tonight?"
"I had a lot of shooters and playmakers around me. When we have our spacing and get into the lane and get guys open, that’s when we’re at our best. We made a lot of shots in that first half for sure, and we made a lot in the second half as well. When we get up and down the floor its a lot easier to give these guys the ball."
