What’s it like to play with Frank Howard?
“It was an honor to play with him. He’s a great leader and it was a real honor to play with him. I wish him well in life.”
How challenging was it to play this Virginia team?
“They are No. 2 in the country, they are really good defensively. They have really good shooters. We just did not do what Coach (Boeheim) told us to do.”

How demoralizing can it be when it seems like they can shoot anything and it goes in?
“It’s just annoying. Teams get hot. We got hot at times. That’s just basketball sometimes. It’s just frustrating.”
What were they doing to create those shots?
“They had Ty Jerome in the middle. He’s a good play-maker. He dribbled out sometimes and made stuff happen. I think he was the difference.”
Do you think anything changed between the first half and second half defensively?
“Our activity changed. We weren’t really active from the guards and forward spots. I feel like Paschal (Chukwu) did a good job down there. The guards and forwards have to do a better job of being active.”
What was Virginia doing to limit your offense?
“That’s Virginia defense. They’re one of the best defensive teams in the country. That’s what they’re going to do. We didn’t really get a lot of movement in the second half. We tried to do a lot of one-on-one and that’s what they want us to do. They got us out of our element tonight.”

Have you ever seen a game turn on its head so quickly?
“That’s what a team like Virginia does. They’re the best defensive team in the country. They can shoot, they’ve got three guys that are some of the best players in the league and best players in the country. They’re a really good team and they got on us and we just struggled to adjust.”
How do you respond to something like this?
“You just look at the positives and adjust to what they did. We had a great first half, probably our best half of the year. We just have to build on that and try to adjust what we struggled with in the second half.”
What can you take away from Kyle Guy’s game?
“He’s a great shooter. He’s a really confident shooter. I like how he keeps shooting no matter what. I think he air-balled the first one or missed it pretty good and he made the next eight or so. He’s a great shooter and I like his game a lot.”
