Player Quotes
Joseph Girard III, Fr., G
How do you feel you’ve grown and matured since your first game?
"I’d say I feel more comfortable. Playing in the ACC is a lot different from playing in high school, obviously. I’ve gotten a lot more comfortable with the ball, a lot more comfortable shooting and scoring and getting to my spots. A lot of defenses kind of change, you know with having guys like Buddy and Elijah. People are kind of stuck to them when I’m running, so its kind of more of a one on one."
When you see Buddy and Elijah playing the way they are offensively, is there more of a concerted effort to get the ball in their hands?
"Yeah, for sure. Those are the guys we’re going to go to if they’re getting hot. Buddy hit a lot of shots today."
Buddy Boeheim, So., G
Talking about Elijah, he had a quiet 19, it seems like he just does that every night and it looks effortless. How would you evaluate the level of consistency that he brings to the offense?
"Its absurd. He’s one of the best players in the country. He makes plays and he does it so easily. He’s a great teammate and a good leader. He’s going to look for other guys, not just score, but do a lot of other things too. He got injured in the first half but played through that just showing he’s a tough player and is going to do whatever it takes to win. You won’t find a guy like that. I can’t speak more highly of him because he’s a special player."
Is it hard to keep your confidence when the team loses a couple games?Â
"No, I don’t think so. I think those games, its really tough losing those, but it shows us that we’re right there. We were one or two plays away from winning those games and we can prove that we can beat anyone in this conference. We just drove off that and without those two games we could be sitting at five and one, and that’s the top of the conference and we know we’re right there. So just keep getting better everyday and we’ll see Saturday when we get a rematch with Virginia Tech and then Notre Dame the following week. It's one game at a time so we’re looking forward to that game Saturday."
