Carrier Dome, Syracuse, N.Y.
Player Quotes
Quincy Guerrier, Fr., F
How did today’s game feel different because of the scoring runs by both teams?
“When we’re playing well on defense, when we’re getting stops, everyone is making shots, you’ve gotta crash and rebound, play physically, play with a lot of energy. Everyone was locked in. But we can’t let two guys shoot the ball like that. We’re not going to win if we’re not playing well on defense.”
How does this team improve rebounding, which has been an issue this year?
“We’ve got workouts, and we’re working a lot on our rebounding. I think it comes from the heart. You’ve just got to be physical, play with a lot of energy, and stay together. Basketball is a game of runs. We’ve just got to stay positive. They got a 10-0 run or whatever, so we’ve got to come back.”
Joe Girard III. Fr., G
Do you think that you took it up a gear after drawing a technical foul?
“Yeah, I mean, I’m just being competitive. When someone usually challenges me or any competitor, usually you step your game up a little bit. That’s what happened.”
Are you encouraged at all by the team’s performance, despite losing tonight?
“Yeah. You always want to be in the W column. Early on, we’ve got to get off to better starts, make sure that we’re not digging ourselves into a hole."
What made it so difficult to get defensive stops later on in the game?
“We’ve just gotta get out to shooters better, make sure we’re in the right spots, and do what we can do to be on the winning side next time.”
Elijah Hughes, R-Jr., F
What stood out to you about Notre Dame’s 3-point shooting?
“They make their shots -- that’s what they do. They make shots in bunches and stretches.”
What can you say to the team after this loss?
“Chins up. Be ready for the next one.”
Why has your production gone up so much this year?
“Confidence. I’m just playing with more confidence, that’s really it.”
