THE OUTCOME
- Wake Forest scored 28 unanswered points, including two of Kenneth Walker’s three touchdowns, and the Demon Deacons went on to win, 38-14.Â
- Redshirt sophomore Cooper Lutz (RB) had the top afternoon of his college tenure, rushing 15 times for 81 yards.
- Lutz totaled a career-best four receptions for 25 yards.
- Freshman Damien Alford had his first collegiate catch, a three-yard reception in the third quarter.
- Redshirt senior Rex Culpepper completed 15-of-27 passes for 85 yards, including a 21-yard touchdown pass to senior Nykeim Johnson (WR) in the second quarter.
- Freshman JaCobian Morgan (QB) entered the game in the fourth quarter. His first college completion was an eight-yard pass to Courtney Jackson (WR).
- Morgan completed all seven of his throws on his only drive, including a three-yard touchdown pass to Luke Benson (TE).
- Morgan’s TD throw was the first by a Syracuse freshman since 2018 (Tommy DeVito) and the first by a true freshman since 2015 (Eric Dungey).
- Jackson (WR), a redshirt freshman, caught a career-best four passes for 24 yards.
- Redshirt freshman Garrett Williams (CB) had his first collegiate quarterback sack, a second-quarter tackle that resulted in a seven-yard loss.
- Williams tied his career-best effort with nine total tackles.
- Senior Kingsley Jonathan (DE) finished with six total tackles, which equaled his career standard.
- Redshirt senior Nolan Cooney (P) punted seven times for a 42.4 average. Three of his punts traveled at least 50 yards and three landed inside the Wake Forest 20-yard line.
- Nykeim Johnson had a 26-yard punt return. It equaled the top runback of his Syracuse tenure. He also averaged 24.0 yards on two kickoff returns.
- Freshman Trebor Pena (KR) had the first kickoff return of his college career. He posted a 20-yard runback.

- Lutz (RB) made his first career start for the Orange. He is the 14th Syracuse player to make his initial collegiate start this fall.
