 Syracuse overcame a 14-point deficit but ran out of miracles at the end of the game as Boston College held on, 65-63, at a sold-out Conte Forum.   Â
A dunk by Kueth Duany with 8:02 left put the Orangemen ahead, 48-44. The contest was tied five times the rest of the way before BC capitalized on three SU turnovers in the last 1:18.   Â
Allen Griffin made a three-pointer with six seconds left to pull the Orange within one. A quick foul put Boston College’s Jon Beerbohm at the line where he converted one of two. SU had one last chance with four seconds remaining but turned the ball over on the inbounds pass.   Â
Preston Shumpert netted 18 of his 20 points in the second half to key the Syracuse rally. Damone Brown had a game-high 21 points and eight rebounds.   Â
A sluggish start hurt the Orangemen. Syracuse converted just 2-of-10 shots in the first 6:30 of the contest and BC opened an early 12-4 advantage. The Eagles pushed the margin to 3420 with 2:49 on the clock.   Â
Syracuse held Boston College to its lowest point output of the season but the Eagles remained unbeaten at home. BC forced 16 Syracuse turnovers and out-rebounded the visitors, 34-29. The Eagles had a 14-5 edge on the offensive glass and outscored Syracuse on second-chance points by a 16-2 count.
