Player Quotes
Cole Swider
What has your transition been like from Villanova to Syracuse?
“It’s been a smooth transition I think. I think at Villanova, we preached really good habits, so it’s been great coming here and learning under coach Boeheim. The offense is different, so I’m excited to keep on growing and continue learning."
How would you describe your play tonight?
“I still think I was a little sloppy tonight with the ball and I have to get better with that. In terms of overall play, having the trust from Coach Boeheim and all the coaches and players around me has given me confidence. I’m excited to continue that and get better throughout the season”
Buddy Boeheim
How does it feel to play with your brother on the court?
“It’s crazy, it definitely took a little for it to sink in, it brought me back to when I was 10 years old and it’s pretty cool. Its pretty special and it still hasn’t really hit me yet."
This is an exhbition game and the expectation is that you’re going to come in and win, but what are you trying to get out of this game?
“Pace is a really good team, they played well, so it was just a good experience to get out of there first of all. Getting the rotations down and figuring out some things we need to work out were a big thing to take away from this."
Joe Girard III
Do you feel like you can set up your own shop?
"It’s just playing within the game, playing within the offense. If I need to do it, I’m always ready to do it. It’s just about what coach wants, what the kind of momentum is. Who’s playing well, who’s not playing well and what we need. I think it’s just a game to game basis, honestly just a game to game basis."
For Jimmy, is it a pretty awesome homecoming?
"It’s amazing, you can even say Cole too. I think we played Cole in the AAU probably six or seven times, so we all knew each other’s games. It makes it that much easier on the court, even off the court. The teams that are the closest off the court are usually the best on the court, and we have a really close group. It just makes playing with each other a lot easier."
Jimmy Boeheim
How was it playing with Symir? You guys grew up together.
"Symir is the best it gets as a teammate. He’s a great kid and a great player too. Being out there with him on top of everything else is great. I know how much he appreciates it too."
