At Syracuse University, financial aid for student athletes encompasses a range of resources designed to support the cost of attendance, in accordance with NCAA regulations. Â
Guiding Goals for Providing Financial AidÂ
- Athletic financial aid at Syracuse University is to be distributed fairly and equitably according to applicable federal laws and mandates and under the auspices of the NCAA bylaw.Â
- Syracuse University leverages athletic financial aid as a mechanism to recruit and retain outstanding student athletes who bring competitive excellence to the classroom and to the playing and practice field. Â
- The goal of the Program is to make the cost of attendance more affordable by minimizing the amount of money a student athlete must borrow or pay out-of-pocket.  Â
- Financial aid allocations are distributed in accordance with Title IX laws.Â
Types of Financial Aid AvailableÂ
- Athletic Financial Aid:Â Awarded based on athletic ability and NCAA guidelines. Initiated by coaches and approved by sport supervisors.Â
- Institutional Financial Aid:Â Includes Syracuse University administered scholarships, grants, loans, work-study, and on-campus employment. Students apply through the Financial Aid Office.Â
- Outside Aid:Â Non-institutional scholarships or grants must be reported and approved to ensure NCAA compliance.Â
- Summer School Financial Aid:Â Student athletes at Syracuse University may receive financial aid for summer courses. Student athletes should work with their academic coordinator and coaching staff to be considered.Â
