Tim Broenink joined the Syracuse field hockey program in August 2021 as an assistant coach. Prior to joining the Orange, he spent the last two years as the head coach of the Norwegian Men’s National Team.
Broenink guided Norway to its first bronze medal in Norwegian history at the Euro Hockey Championship Men IV in Helsinki 2019. Under his leadership, he coached the Top Scorer, Top Goalie and MVP for Norway.
In 2019, he coached the Norwegian club Kringsja to win the gold medal at the Euro Hockey Club Championship IV in Malta.
From 2017-20 Broenink was the head coach of the famous club Amsterdam (AH&BC) first youth teams. He led the U19 girls for two years, the U19 boys for one year and in his last year, the U17 boys team. He also helped create the development plan for the girls side from U8 till U19 and coordinated the U8 till U12 for two years at the club.
While in Amsterdam, Broenink trained several national youth Dutch players and seniors Olympians players like Ellen Hoog and Naomie van As, two of the best players of their generation.
Broenink was the trainer for the Hockey Academy at Amsterdam from 2018-20.
In 2020, he started to coach Alecto first ladies senior team, in the previous year they were last in the ranking at D3 and when Broenink took over climbed to a top-5 team in the same division.
In 2016, he coached the Dutch federation regional boys and girls team of Noord Nederland.
Broenink began his coaching career in 2009 in the North of the Netherlands, coaching teams from GHHC, GHBS, HCE and Zwolle. At HCE he was the technical director and responsible for the whole development of the club while also coaching the first ladies team (2015).
Broenink graduated with honors on the EHF TCP course. He obtains the highest coaching degree from the KNHB named HT4, and is a FIH level 3 and High performance indoor certified coach. Â In 2019, he passed his Master in Coaching at the Johan Cruijff Institute in Amsterdam.
