Omar Hales

Omar Hales is in his second season as a quality control coach working with the Orange defensive backs.
He joined the Syracuse staff after spending the 2023 campaign at Nebraska as the Director of Player Personnel - High Schools.
Hales coached the 2022 season at Eastern University where served as the program’s first special teams coordinator. In 2021, he worked with the Carolina Panthers as part of the Bill Walsh Coaching Fellowship program, which provides NFL  coaching experience to talented minority college coaches, high school coaches and former players.
He spent the 2019 and 2020 seasons at Baylor. In his first season with the Bears, he served as a defensive quality control coach and helped Baylor post an 11-3 record and rank 9th nationally in scoring defense. In 2020, Hales was Baylor’s director of scouting.
Previously, Hales served on the recruiting staffs at Rutgers (2017-18) and Temple (2015-16).
Hales started his collegiate playing career at Lackawanna College before transferring to Temple. He was a two-year letterwinner with the Owls in 2007 and 2008, playing in 18 games and making 10 starts. Hales earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2010.
