Smith enters his first year at Syracuse after spending three seasons as the special teams and run game coordinator and defensive ends coach at Santiam Christian High School in Corvallis, Oregon.
In his tenure, Santiam reached the state title game on two occasions, winning one, and reached the state quarterfinal round in every season. Under his watch, the offense produced three 1,500-yard rushers.
Before getting into coaching, Smith was a tight end and long snapper at Oregon State for the final three years of his collegiate career, which began at Lafayette College. He holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing with a specialization in sales and a minor in political science from Oregon State, which he earned in 2019.
