Ben Lee joined the Syracuse men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach in April 2026. He had served the previous two seasons as an assistant at Siena under Gerry McNamara.
LEE COACHING CAREER
Lee contributed to a dramatic turnaround at Siena. The Saints produced a 10-win improvement in 2024-25, Lee’s first season with the program, and followed with a 23-12 campaign that included a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament title and NCAA Tournament berth.
This past year, the Saints ranked 15th in Division I scoring defense (65.8 ppg.) and led the MAAC in field goal percentage (.455). The Saints were second in the conference in assist/turnover ratio (1.32), scoring defense (65.8) in scoring margin (+4.5).
He was hired as a graduate assistant coach on the staff of Washington coach Mike Hopkins in 2019. He contributed to player training and development, opponent scouting, program operations and statistical analysis. Washington players Isaiah Stewart and Jaden McDaniels were selected in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft.
He was the director of Marquee Hoops and vice president of events for MADE Hoops, both industry leaders in youth basketball.
Lee returned to Washington as director of basketball operations in 2022. He managed the men’s basketball budget and assisted with transfer portal evaluations, opponent scouting and team academic performance. Lee also supervised the video coordinator, graduate assistants and student managers, and coordinated recruiting visits. He scheduled team travel and home and away practices.
In 2023, Lee was promoted to assistant coach and director of recruiting with the Huskies. He helped develop Koren Johnson, the 2023-24 Pac-12 Sixth Player of the Year, and first-team All-Pac-12 selection Keion Brooks, Jr.
LEE PLAYING CAREER
Lee was a four-year member and captain of the basketball team at Union (N.Y.). The Dutchmen won two Liberty League Tournaments and earned two NCAA Division III Tournament berths during Lee’s tenure. He earned his bachelor’s degree in economics in 2019.
