Matt June was named men’s basketball director of strength and conditioning in May 2026.
June was strength and conditioning coach for current Syracuse Coach Gerry McNamara at Siena for the past two seasons. McNamara and his staff took over a program that won four games in 2023-24 and within two years captured the 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament championship and earned an NCAA Tournament spot.
JUNE AT CORTLAND
June earned a bachelor’s degree in fitness development in 2012 and a master’s degree in exercise science in 2014 from Cortland. He was a member of the varsity baseball team and a two-time captain. While working toward his master’s degree, June served as assistant strength coach and assistant baseball coach with the Red Dragons.
ATHLETES WAREHOUSE EXPERIENCE
He was the program director and head of performance at Athletes Warehouse from June 2014 to February 2020. He oversaw all programming and training and developed strength and conditioning programs for high school, collegiate and professional teams, groups and individuals.
CAPITAL DISTRICT WORK
June was hired as strength and conditioning coach at the College of St. Rose in 2020. He implemented a long-term model of training for the student-athletes for 18 teams. June helped guide the program through the COVID-19 pandemic, creating an online, digital platform for training.
In January 2022 he was selected as strength and conditioning coordinator at Colonie High School (N.Y.). He added duties as the director of performance and head coach at Suarez Sports Orthopedic Physical Therapy in August 2023.
CONNECTING WITH SIENA
June was appointed men’s basketball strength and conditioning coach at Siena in 2024. He added responsibilities with the women’s basketball program the following year.
June is certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).
