Former All-BIG EAST standout Alyscha Mottershead returned to her alma mater as an assistant coach in August 2014. She graduated from Syracuse in 2013 after leading the Orange to back-to-back appearances in the BIG EAST Tournament.
Mottershead transferred to Syracuse after her freshman season at Iowa where she earned Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week awards. She was a three-year starter for the Orange. As a senior, Mottershead earned All-BIG EAST Second Team honors after leading the team in scoring and posting career highs in goals (5) and points (12).
In addition, Mottershead was recognized for her work in the classroom. She was voted to the 2012 CoSIDA Academic All-America All-District I team and was a three-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star. Mottershead was a member of the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll every semester at Syracuse.
As a member of the senior Canadian national team, Mottershead competed in the 2012 CONCACAF Olympic qualifier matches. She also led the Canadians to the quarterfinals of the U17 World Cup and captained the squad in the World Cup qualifying bronze medal match. She also played professionally in Germany, helping her team move up to the 1st division.
Mottershead graduated Summa Cum Laude from Syracuse with a bachelor’s degree in psychology with an integrated learning major in forensic science.
