Katie Ely, who concentrated on the goalkeeping position, served on the Orange coaching staff from 2007-10 after completing a stellar goalkeeping career at Fairfield University.
Ely holds the Stags’ career saves per game record (6.0), ranks second in single-season saves (113) and owns the Fairfield standard for most saves in a game (14). She was a three-time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Academic selection and a four-time MAAC Player of the Week honoree. Ely was named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team her freshman year and helped the team to the 2002 MAAC regular-season title and MAAC Tournament crown in 2005.
She holds a U.S.S.F. “B” coaching license and an NSCAA National Goalkeeper License. Ely also serves on the Region I coaching staff, working with the goalkeepers.
Ely attended Parkland High School in Allentown, Pa. where she was the team captain and still holds the school records for shutouts in a season (15) and career (50).
