Greg Fahey was named men's basketball general manager in May 2026.

Fahey joined the Orange staff following two years at Hampton. He was hired as associate head coach in 2024-25 by Ivan Thomas. Prior to last season, Fahey added the general manager title with the Pirates.

A MARIST MANAGER
While pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Marist, Fahey was a student manager with the men’s basketball program for four seasons. He graduated in 2013 with a degree in communications.

STARTING A COACHING CAREER
Fahey began his coaching career as an assistant coach at St. Benedict’s Prep (N.J.), where he worked from 2013-16. The Gray Bees were 89-15, including a 35-2 mark in 2015-16, during his tenure. He moved on to FDU-Florham, an NCAA Division III school, as an assistant coach for two seasons, from 2016-2018.

AN AAU ASSOCIATION
He joined up with the Albany City Rocks AAU program and coach Jim Hart in 2015. Fahey was an assistant coach for three years and then became head coach of the Under-16 team in 2018.

BACK IN THE COLLEGE RANKS
Fahey accepted a graduate assistant coaching position on Ed Cooley’s staff at Providence for the 2018-19. The Friars earned an NIT berth that season. While there, Fahey earned a master’s degree.

From 20019-2023, Fahey spent two years as director of operations and two years as an assistant coach at Siena. A member of Carmen Maciariello’s staff, Fahey helped two Saint squads earn Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) regular-season championships during his tenure. He helped develop eight all-conference players including MAAC Player of the Year winners Manny Camper and Jalen Pickett.

When Cooley was hired as men’s basketball coach at Georgetown, he asked Fahey to serve as the special assistant to the head coach. After Thomas was selected as head coach at Hampton, he brought Fahey.

The general manager serves as a member of the coaching staff, supporting the head coach in managing various aspects of the program. The primary responsibilities include:
