Michael Siravo joined the Syracuse women’s rowing team as an assistant coach in October 2022 as the team’s international recruiter and fours coach. Since joining the Orange, he helped elevate the women’s rowing program in Syracuse to be one of the top crews in the ACC culminating with the program’s first ACC Championship in school history in 2024.
Siravo enters the 2025-26 school year as the Director of International Recruiting for the Orange and works primarily with the team’s third varsity eight. Syracuse has placed in the top 13 at each of the last three NCAA Championships since he joined Head Coach Luke McGee’s staff.
With the Orange, Siravo has guided his crews to multiple wins during his time with the Orange, most notably the 2nd Varsity Four beating Brown to win at Eastern Sprints in 2023.
Prior to Syracuse, Siravo was the Director of Rowing at the University of Illinois. He came to the United States in December of 2020 to lead the Fighting Illini, leaving his hometown of London, England, to pursue a career in U.S. collegiate coaching.
During Siravo’s time at Illinois, he led the team to its best ACRA (American College Rowing Association) Championship performance with three crews earning medals. Three Fighting Illini earned all-America honors under his direction as well as 12 athletes collected all-academic recognition.
Before making the move to the U.S., Siravo coached at two premiere clubs in the United Kingdom, Thames Rowing Club and Mosley Boat Club.
With over a decade of coaching experience, Siravo holds a Level 3 coaching certification from both British Rowing and US Rowing. In addition, he is a certified exercise physiologist and strength & conditioning coach. As an athlete, Siravo rowed at the London Oratory School and Tideway Scullers School.
He earned a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in exercise physiology with a concentration in training methodology from St. Mary’s University graduating in 2021.
