In two years he helped the Rams lower their team earned-run-average from 6.89 (2016) to 3.76 (2018).

The program made a 23-win improvement over the previous season and accumulated 30 wins for the first time since 2012. Owen was instrumental in helping the team earned-run-average drop from 6.64 prior to his arrival to 2.90 in his year on the staff. Two of his hurlers posted top-10 finishes in Division I fewest walks per game.
