SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Over the coming weeks, Syracuse field hockey head coach Ange Bradley is announcing the program's 2014 signing class. Be sure to check Cuse.com as the Orange unveils its incoming class one-by-one.
Â
"I am very excited to welcome the Class of 2018 to our Syracuse Field Hockey Family," Bradley said. "This class has decided to join a university which offers excellence both in the classroom and on the field. This is a powerful recruiting class that will offer speed to our line-up, skill and a high level of hockey knowledge. This class represents five states and two countries; they are diverse and ready to help us pursue an ACC and NCAA championship. I cannot wait to help them develop and leave a legacy for future Syracuse Field Hockey student-athletes. There are many firsts that this class can achieve as a unit. On behalf of the Syracuse Athletic Department and our extended community please welcome the class of 2018 to our Syracuse family."

In today's installment, Bradley announces the signing of Erin Gillingham of Boyertown, Pa. to a National Letter of Intent.
Â
Gillingham, a quick and agile 5-2 midfielder, played four years at Oley Valley High School for head coach Tiffany Cappellano, leading the Lynx to a combined record of 68-20-5 in her career. She tallied a total of 83 points in her high school career on 36 goals and 11 assists.
Â
"I chose Syracuse because it felt like it was the best fit for me, academically and athletically," Gillingham said. "I fell in love with the team, coaching staff and the campus."
Â
Gillingham is coming off a stellar senior campaign in which she exploded for 15 goals and four assists as Oley Valley went 23-4-1 and reached the District III championship for the second year in a row. Primarily a forward in high school, she served as team captain last fall.
Â
"Erin is dynamic, powerful, explosive and has some of the best lateral speed I have ever had the ability to coach," Bradley said. "She can change direction on a dime. Her vision and ability to move a ball quickly makes her an outstanding midfielder. As a player, Erin reminds me of returning All-American Alyssa Manley. They will be a powerful midfield combination this fall."
Â
Gillingham was named All-State First Team as a senior in 2013 after earning All-State Second Team honors in 2012. She was also named All-County in both 2012 and 2013 after earning All-Division honors as a sophomore in 2011.
Â
"I have had the pleasure of watching Erin develop over the past four years," Cappellano said. "Her speed and ball control make her an attacking threat. Furthermore, her athleticism and coachability will help her to successfully compete at an elite Division I program like Syracuse."
Â
Gillingham plays her club hockey for X-Calibur for head coach Clarence Jennelle.
Â
Off the field, Gillingham was active as well, participating in Student Council, Prom Club and Fashion Show.
