CLEMSON, S.C. – All four Syracuse women's rowing crews will race for gold in grand finals at the ACC Championship on Saturday after posting second-place finishes in each of its heats on Friday evening on Lake Hartwell in Clemson, S.C.
The ACC Rowing Championships continue on Saturday with finals beginning at 8:02 a.m. with the third varsity eight grand final and concluding at 9:00 a.m. with the varsity eight grand final. The ACC Rowing Championship will be video streamed live by the ACC Digital Network on theACC.com with Dean Linke handling the play-by-play and Steve Pritzker doing the color analysis.
Seeded third in its first ACC Championship, head coach Justin Moore's 18th nationally ranked Orange placed second to second-seeded and 10th-ranked Notre Dame in each of its heats in the varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four. SU topped crews from Boston College and Miami in each of the four-boat heats that were delayed to a 7:30 p.m. start due to weather.
Due to Miami not having a third varsity eight entry, no heats where held in that class with all boats advancing to Saturday's grand final.
Defending champion and top-seeded Virginia posted the top time in each event, while the Fighting Irish had the second-best times.
The Orange had the third-best time in the 2V8, crossing in 6:55.0, while SU had the fourth-best time overall in both the V8 and V4. Syracuse's V8 posted a time of 6:56.0 and the V4 covered the 2,000-meter course in 7:58.9.
