Eight rowers earned a 4.0 GPA in the fall semester
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University women's rowing team certainly had its fair share of success out of the water in the fall semester of the 2015-16 academic year. As a team, the Orange recorded a 3.440 grade point average for the fall semester.
Â
"These academic results highlight two important characteristics of our squad," head coach Justin Moore stated. "No. 1, the women on this team come to Syracuse to be excellent. They hold themselves to a very high standard on the water and in the classroom. The expectation for performance is high. No. 2, our sport is a work sport. The women know that you get out what you put in. This is true of academics, as well. These grades highlight our women's willingness to work at those challenges presented to them."
Â
Eight members of the women's rowing team earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the semester, as well. Kelsey Adams, Julie Bengis, Haley Jones, Arianna Lee, Ariel Litovsky, Sydney Rodriguez, Christina Tobias, and Kari Tomeny all earned a 4.0 GPA.
Â
"These results are attributable to the outstanding support that is offered to our student athletes at Syracuse," added Moore. At Syracuse, the University recognizes the tremendous amount of time these student-athletes put into representing the University around the country and the world in their respective sports. They understand that the time and energy demands are significant and have put in place an academic support system that allows the athletes to thrive in both the athletic and academic environments. I want to thank, in particular, our team's academic support staff of Tommy Powell, Lynaye Stone, and Mindy Reger. Their caring and assistance play a large role in our academic success."

The Orange open its 2016 spring season on Saturday, March 26 with a scrimmage at Cornell in Ithaca, N.Y.
