Fourth Syracuse women's rower to earn All-America First Team honors
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior Deirdre Fitpatrick of the Syracuse University women's rowing program was named to the 2016 Pocock Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) All-America First Team, as announced on Thursday. Fitzpatrick is the fourth Orange women's rower to earn CRCA All-America First Team accolades in program history.
It marks the second straight season that Fitzpatrick has been recognized as CRCA All-American, as she earned second-team accolades in 2015. The Cheshire, Conn. Native also earned CRCA All-Region 3 First Team honors and All-Atlantic Coast Conference First team merits earlier this year.
The senior rower sat in the sixth seat in the first four events of the 2016 season, before transitioning to the stroke position for the 2016 NCAA Championship. Fitzpatrick helped the Orange to a 12th-place finish at the national championship regatta, its best finish since the 2002 campaign.
