
Nine Orange Earn CRCA Accolades

Fitzpatrick and Tomeny named All-Region 3
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Nine members of the Syracuse University women's rowing team were recognized by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) for their performances on and off the water for the 2016 season.
For the second consecutive year, senior Deirdre Fitzpatrick collected All-Region 3 First Team accolades. An All-ACC First Team honoree, Fitzpatrick stroked the first varsity eight crew to a 12th-place showing at the 2016 NCAA Championship.
Classmate Kari Tomeny recorded All-Region 3 Second Team honors. Tomeny, a Second-Team All-ACC recipient, sat in the sixth seat of the first varsity eight boat at the NCAA Championship in Gold River, Calif.
CRCA also announced its scholar-athlete awards for the 2016 season, as well. The student-athletes recognized are in their second, third, or fourth year of eligibility; rowed in an NCAA Championship-eligible boat this season; and hold a 3.5 cumulative grade point average.
Syracuse had nine rowers recognized, which was the third-most among Atlantic Coast Conference programs. Kelsey Adams, Fitzpatrick, Yasmine Hemida, Paula Hughes, Haley Jones, Saydee McQuay, Olivia Mennillo, Christina Tobias, and Tomeny all earned CRCA Scholar-Athlete Awards. Adams, Fitzpatrick, McQuay, Mennillo, and Tomeny all notched their second honor of their collegiate careers.
