Four More Look to Advance to NCAAs on Saturday

After Paige Stoner and Aidan Tooker punched their tickets to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, joining Colin Bennie who earned his Thursday, four members of the Orange will look to join them tonight. The NCAA Championship is June 7-10 in Eugene, Oregon.
Women's 100m hurdles (7:05 p.m.)
- Tia Thevenin ran a career-best 13.38 seconds to get her into Saturday's quarterfinal round.
- Saturday's race will be run in three heats of eight, with the top-three from each heat and the next-three fastest times overall advancing.
- Thevenin will race in the first heat.
Men's 110m hurdles (7:20 p.m.)
- Freddie Crittenden III, who entered as the No. 3 overall seed in the east, easily cruised to win his heat in 13.69 seconds and earn the automatic qualifying spot into tonight's quarterfinal round.
- Saturday's race will be run in three heats of eight, with the top-three from each heat and the next-three fastest times overall advancing.
- Crittenden will race in the second heat.
Women's 5000m (8:05 p.m.)
- Madeleine Davison will make her NCAA Prelims debut in the 5k, with a seed time of 16:29.30 which she set at the Virginia Challenge.
- She enters the race coming off a 15th-place finish at the ACC Championships in the event.
- Furman's Allie Buchalski is the top seed followed closely by ACC foes Erika Kemp (NC State) and Anna Rohrer (Notre Dame) in second and third respectively.
- The 5k semifinals will be run in two heats of 24, with the top-five from each heat, plus the next-two fastest times advancing to Eugene.
- Davison will race in heat two.
Men's 5000m (8:45 p.m.)
- Justyn Knight is the heavy favorite in the men's 5k semifinal, with a seed time that's the best mark to date in the world and is over 22 seconds faster than the next-closest competitor, Jacob Choge of Middle Tennessee State.
- Knight set his time of 13:17.51 at the Payton Jordan Invitational, and followed that performance up with a win in the ACC Championship in the 5k.
- The 5k semifinals will be run in two heats of 24, with the top-five from each heat, plus the next-two fastest times advancing to Eugene.
- Knight will race in heat one.
