After an eight-year NFL career, Syracuse University alum Steve Gregory returned to his alma mater as the special teams quality control coach in June 2015.Â

Gregory spent six seasons as a defensive back with the San Diego Chargers (2006-11) before finishing his career with the New England Patriots (2012-2013). Gregory recorded 357 tackles, seven interceptions and 25 pass breakups in the NFL and helped the Patriots reach consecutive AFC title games.

Prior to embarking on his pro career, Gregory was a wide receiver and cornerback for the Orange from 2002-05. He ranks third at Syracuse in both career passes defended (40) and most pass breakups (34). In 2002, Gregory was named a Sporting News Freshman All-American after ranking fifth nationally and first among freshmen with 21 passes defended.

Gregory holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and finance from Syracuse.
