
Fiume, Munger Power 3-1 Defeat of Regionally-Ranked Rutgers

Rutgers (17-6 overall, 4-2 BIG EAST) came into the weekend ranked No. 3 in the Northeast region. Syracuse (18-8, 3-3) won game one 15-7 before losing game two 10-15. The Orange sealed the match with wins in games three and four, 15-7 and 15-6.
Munger also had two aces in the win. Fiume posted 13 kills and a team-high 11 digs. She led all defenders with five blocks. Senior outside hitters Julie Nicholson (Horseheads, NY) and Drisana Carey (San Diego, CA) each contributed nine kills. Junior middle blocker Jing Jing Wang (Beijing, China) served a pair of aces in two games played. Junior Noreen Carroll (LaGrange, IL) posted 48 assists and two solo blocks.
Fiume needs 23 kills to break SUs all-time kills record of 1,605, held by 1996 graduate Jen Murphy.
The Orangewomen concludes its four-match homestand Oct. 22, facing BIG EAST foe Rutgers at 2 p.m. in the Womens Building.
