
Fiume Edges Closer to Record As Syracuse Notches 20th Win

Fiume posted nine kills on the night, giving her 1,601 for her career. Jen Murphy (1993-96) holds the mark with 1,605. She also had two solo blocks. Syracuse (20-8) swept the match in three games, winning 15-3, 15-3, 15-4.
Junior rightside hitter Carol Munger (Canandaigua, NY/Canadaigua Academy) posted 11 kills and six digs to lead all players. Freshman setter Michaela Skelly (Simi Valley, CA/Royal) added six digs to the effort.
The Orangewomen outblocked Albany 10-2 in the match, lead by senior outside hitter Julie Nicholson (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) with three, including two solo stops. Munger, senior outside hitter Julianna Stokes (Naperville, IL/Naperville North) and sophomore middle blocker Abby Van Mater (West Chester, PA/Unionville) posted two each. Skelly and junior Noreen Carroll (LaGrange, IL) shared the setting duties. Carroll lead the team with 17 assists and added five digs. Skelly had 12 assists.
Syracuse continues a three-match road swing Saturday, Oct. 28 at the University of Connecticut. The match is slated for a 3 p.m. start in Storrs, CT.
