Thoet Finishes Fourth In the 50 Freestyle at the Nike Cup Championships

The Orangemen were ninth out of 13 teams after Thursday's races. SU's top 400 yard medley relay team, made up of senior Josko Vucetic (Split, Croatia), senior Ilia Mikhailov (Alta, Sweden) , junior Djordje Filipovic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia) and freshman Spencer Raymond (Idstein, Germany) captured fifth place in a season-best time of 3:25.20. The North Carolina men and women were leading both fields after the first day of action. The ninth-ranked Tar Heel women won all five events and bolted to the lead with 335 points. The Syracuse women tallied 65 points. The Tar Heel men, ranked No. 23 in the country, garnered 284 points after the first day, while SU collected 29 points.
