Kotynia Wins Silver

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Senior Kuba Kotynia won the silver medal in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:56.39 as Syracuse concluded competition at the 2011 BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championship at Wright Natatorium on Saturday.
Sophomore Chad Flanick joined Kotynia in the 200-yard breaststroke preliminaries, finishing 30th with a time of 2:17.14. Senior Brian Zimmerman completed his collegiate career with a 26th-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 1:57.00.
On the women's side, senior Stephanie Lefebvre-Kuczynski notched a 32nd-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a mark of 2:26.93, while freshman Alice Stejskal was 38th at 2:30.36.
An NCAA "B" qualifer in the 100 and 200 breaststroke, Kotynia will now apply to compete in the 2011 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships which begin March 24.
