
Orange Volleyball 2000 Year-In-Review

The Orangewomen had a rocky start to the season, losing their first three matches at the Weber State Invitational. But the squad bounced back, winning its next eight matches, including an in-season tournament title at the Orange Classic. It was one of two eight-match winning streaks the Orangewomen sustained during the season.
Fiume toppled nine SU records, including the schools career kills record, and earned an All-BIG EAST selection. She had 1,698 kills, surpassing 1997 graduate Jen Murphys mark of 1,605. Fiume had the second-highest single-season total on record with 534, two shy of tying her own record with 536 kills. She posted the highest single-season kills per game average with 4.27.

Carroll, in her third season at Syracuse, broke the career assists mark. Carroll leapfrogged 1998 graduate Carrie Urton during the Notre Dame match. Carroll has 3,842 assists to Urtons 3,830. She maintained her lead on the career assists average chart, posting 10.2 helpers per game. She was named to the Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-District team this season.
Carol Munger had a landmark season for the Orangewomen. Munger became one of the teams top offensive weapons, recording 371 kills from the outside hitter spot. She averaged 3.37 kills per game and became a presence on defense averaging 0.52 blocks per game.
As a team, the Orangewomen finished 20th in the nation in aces. SU amassed 260 service aces, averaging 2.05 per game.
