Senior rightside hitter Dana Fiume (Island Park, NY) was named the BIG EAST Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 11.
Fiume earned MVP honors at the Orange Classic last weekend in Syracuse. She recorded 69 kills in four matches at the tournament, won by the Orangewomen (5-3). Fiume averaged 4.93 kills and 1.21 blocks per game during the competition. The co-captain broke the school's single-match record for kills in a three-game match, recording 23 against Buffalo. She moved into third place on the school's all-time kills list with 1,312. She needs 294 to break the record held by Jen Murphy (1,605 from 1993-96).
Fiume leads the conference with 148 kills and a 4.77 kills per game average. She is third in the conference with 35 blocks and seventh in the BIG EAST with a 1.31 blocks per game average.
