Fiume, Stokes Earn All-Tournament Honors at Memphis Tournament

MEMPHIS, TN (September 16, 2000) -- Seniors Dana Fiume (Island Park, NY) and Julianna Stokes
(Naperville, OH) were named to the All-Tournament team at the University
of Memphis/Graphics Systems Classic this weekend in Memphis, but the
Syracuse University womens volleyball team lost its final match at the
tournament. The Orangewomen were swept in three games by Mississippi
State on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs ended Syracuses (8-4) winning streak at eight matches, winning 15-12, 15-11, 15-2.
Fiume led the Orangewomen against Mississippi State with 14 kills. Junior Carol Munger (Canandaigua, NY) added 11 kills and a team-high 10 digs. Freshman setter Michaela Skelly (Simi Valley, CA) led SU with 20 assists.
Fiume was named to her third consecutive all-tournament squad, earning honors from the Weber State Tournament and the Orange Classic. She had 65 kills in four matches in Memphis. Stokes had a stellar weekend, with 24 kills, 30 digs and 13 blocks at the tournament.
Syracuse returns home to face Siena College in a non-conference match at 7 p.m. on September 20.
