
Syracuse Swimmers and Divers Back in Competitive Action for the First Time Since December 2

Freshman Annie Tudryn (Springfield, MA) set a school record in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:16.33 at the Nike Cup on November 18. Classmate Elyse McDonough (Delmar, NY) owns the team's top times this season in the 100 butterfly (58.61), the 200 butterfly (2:04.19) and the 200 individual medley (2:07.10). Freshman Megan Daney (Newtown, PA) posted stand-out times in the backstroke events at the Nike Cup. Her times of 58.57 in the 100 backstroke and 2:04.57 in the 200 backstroke are the best so far this season for the Orangewomen.
Thoet also recorded season-best times at the Nike Cup in November with marks of 23.88 in the 50 freestyle, 52.08 in the 100 freestyle and 1:55.17 in the 200 freestyle.
Van Deusen was the other Orangewoman to crack the school record books in the first half of the season. She set two school records against Massachusetts on December 1-2, with scores of 428.03 on the one-meter board and 507.00 on the three-meter. Van Deusen's top score in the six-dive one-meter event was 251.55 against Seton Hall on October 21. Mastropole also had success against the Pirates. She won the six-dive three-meter event with a score of 263.92.
The Syracuse men are 2-2 on the season. The Orangemen defeated St. Bonaventure (134-106) and Seton Hall (143.50 - 87.50) in their first two dual-meets of the season. They then lost to Pittsburgh (160-79) and Massachusetts (239-127).
Senior Dustin Riley (Carson City, NV) got off to a quick start on the season, winning the first nine individual races he swam in. He captured first place in the 200 individual medley, the 200 butterfly and the 200 breaststroke against St. Bonaventure on October 14. He followed that up the following week against Seton Hall with first-place finishes in the 1,000 freestyle, the 200 breaststroke and the 200 butterfly. Riley was the only Orangeman to finish first against Pittsburgh on October 28 and he did so in three events, winning the 200 individual medley, the 200 butterfly and the 200 breaststroke.
Senior Josko Vucetic (Split, Croatia) is ranked among the nation's top 25 backstrokers. His time of 49.89 in the 100 backstroke on November 17 at the Nike Cup was the 18th-best time in the country, according to late November rankings. The time of 1:48.28 Vucetic posted in the 200 backstroke at the Nike Cup was the 13th-fastest time in that particular event.
Senior Adam Earle (Camillus, NY), the lone male diver for the Orangemen, consistently scored points for SU during the first half of the season. He set a school record against Massachusetts on December 2 with his score of 485.18 in the 11-dive one-meter board event.
