Two former Orangemen will suit up for
Super Bowl XXXV on January 28 in Tampa Bay, FL. Defensive linemen Rob
Burnett and wide receiver Qadry Ismail will represent Syracuse in Baltimore's first trip to the Super Bowl. Additionally, offensive lineman Scott Kiernan and wide receiver Quinton Spotwood are members of the Giants' practice squad and will represent Syracuse on the NFC Champion's sideline. Baltimore, the AFC champ, faces New York at 6 p.m. on CBS.
Both Ravens' players competed Sunday in the AFC Championship game at Oakland. Burnett lined up on the defense that limited Oakland to three points, while Ismail caught one pass for 18 yards. Kiernan is a member of the Giants' practice squad and did not play.
It is the second consecutive year that more than one former SU football player has played in the Super Bowl. Last season, tight end Roland Williams and center John Flannery played for the St. Louis Rams.
