Career Highs Help Halt Losing Streak: Syracuse put a stop to its modest two-game losing streak by defeating Rutgers on Saturday night, 68-54. Senior forward Damone Brown had 28 points and seven steals, each a career-high total. Junior forward Preston Shumpert added a career-best 10 defensive rebounds and sophomore guard DeShaun Williams had a personal-best 11 assists. The centers got into the act as well. Freshman Jeremy McNeil equaled his career high with nine rebounds and senior Billy Celuck repeated his career-best scoring effort with 10 points.
Tight Series: Syracuse and Georgetown have evenly split the previous 38 regular season, BIG EAST meetings. The Orangemen have captured the last six. Georgetown won the only post-season outing of that span -- a 76-72 decision in the 2000 BIG EAST Tournament. The overall series is in Georgetown's favor, 34-31.
