Starling Named Academic All-District

Senior J.J. Starling has been named to the 2025-26 Academic All-District Men's Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators.Â
The Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined academic and athletic performances.
A 2025-26 All-ACC Preseason Honorable Mention pick, Starling started all 30 games he competed in during campaign. He averaged 12.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 29.0 minutes played. During the course of the season he scored the 1,000 point of his Syracuse career.
Starling was named to the All-ACC Men's Basketball Academic Team (3.0 semester grade-point-average, 3.0 cumulative g.p.a.) in 2024 and 2025. He earned a spot on the All-ACC Academic Honor Roll (3.0 academic year g.p.a.) in 2023-24 and 2024-25.
He was named to the Syracuse Athletic Director's Honor Roll (3.0 semester g.p.a.) in the Fall 2023, Spring 2024, Fall 2024, Spring 2025 and Fall 2025.
The nomination criteria for the honor includes a 3.5 cumulative grade-point-average and participation in 90 percent of a team's contests or starts in 66 percent of a program's games.
He is majoring in communications and rhetorical studies in the College of Visual & Performing Arts at Syracuse.
