
Syracuse Picked as Early Favorite to Repeat as NCAA Champion in Men's Lacrosse

SYRACUSE, NY -- On December 28, Face-Off Yearbook announced its 2001
Division I Men's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches Poll and All-Americans.
With 44 coaches reporting, Syracuse earned 39 of the first-place votes
to become the early favorite to repeat as the NCAA Champion.
The Orangemen had the most players on the All-American First Team with six. Attackmen Liam Banks (Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) and Michael Springer (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) were recognized, along with midfielder Josh Coffman (Carthage, NY/Carthage), face-off specialist Chris Cercy (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage), defenseman John Glatzel (Ellicott City, MD/Boys' Latin) and goalie Rob Mulligan (Farmingdale, NY/Farmingdale).
Voted to Face-Off's Preseason All-American Second Team were midfielder Brian Solliday (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) and close defenseman Billy St. George (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin).
