Thoet Named ECAC D-I Swimmer of the Week, Van Deusen Selected As Diver of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Senior Eleanor Thoet (Bath, ME) was named the ECAC Division I Swimmer of the Week and sophomore Julie Van Deusen (Bear, DE) was selected as the ECAC Division I Diver of the Week for their performances in Syracuse's 134-109 victory against Connecticut on January 27. It marked the first time this season that either student-athlete won the award.
Thoet placed first in three events. She swam a time of 24.20 in the 50-yard freestyle and a time of 52.73 in the 100-yard freestyle. She also anchored the 400-yard medley relay team to a new Webster Pool record with a time of 3:53.1.
Van Deusen finished first in the one-meter dive with 280.05 points and first in the three-meter dive with 261.52 points.
The Syracuse women's swimming and diving team is 5-1 on the season. Both the Orangewomen and Orangemen compete at Florida Atlantic University on February 3, in the final meet of the regular season. The BIG EAST Championship is February 15-17 at the Goodwill Aquatic Center in Uniondale, N.Y.
