Orangewomen's Varsity Four Wins Stonehurst Invitational

ROCHESTER, NY — The varsity four - A of the Syracuse women's rowing team won the women's heavyweight four at the Stonehurst Invitational on Sunday, October 14. Results in Rochester were not made final until early Monday morning.
This is the second consecutive year that SU has won the heavyweight four race at the Stonehurst. Senior Erin Gallagher (Upper Darby, PA/ Archbishop Pendergast) coxed the boat of junior Nicole Garofalo (Liverpool, NY/ Liverpool), sophomore Juliet Bonczkowski (Berkeley, CA), junior Bonnie Chapman (Gainsville, FL) and senior Odette Mitchell-Servilio (Park Ridge, NJ). Syracuse's varsity four - B placed sixth in the competition.
The Orangewomen's varsity eight - A finished second, behind Radcliffe (Harvard). Using the time from the morning three-mile head race and three times the finish time of the afternoon 1,500-meter sprint, SU posted a championship time of 33:12.43, 22 seconds behind Radcliffe's 32.51.31. Heather DiLoreto (East Amherst, NY/ Mercyhurst Prep) coxed the varsity eight, while Libby Graves (Holden, MA/ St. Mary's) was in the bow seat. Syracuse's varsity eight - B finished in 12th place.
The Orangewomen head to the Charles River in Boston for the world's largest regatta, the Head of the Charles. The regatta is October 20-21.
