10/16/2001 12:00:00 AM
PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Syracuse University women’s soccer senior co-captain Tracy Stalker (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) has been named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for Oct. 15-21.
Stalker played a critical role in a pair of SU wins last week. On Friday Stalker scored on a penalty kick and assisted on the game-winning goal by co-defender Courtney Spencer (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) in a 4-0 shutout against Seton Hall. She followed that performance by anchoring the Orange defense in a 2-1 victory at Rutgers on Sunday.
A pre-season All-BIG EAST selection, Stalker has played in 72 games at Syracuse and scored two goals and has 10 assists to her credit.
The women’s soccer team will play host to Dartmouth on Wednesday at the Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
