
SU Cross Country Runs at BIG EAST Championships

The Orangewomen were led by junior-transfer Zelma Jackson (Aurora, Colo./A. Phillip Randolph/Barton County CC), who finished 35th with a time of 22:26. Freshman Leah Folmsbee (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) completed the course in 22:44, good for a 45th place finish. The Orangewomen finished with a score of 306.
Catherine Guiney of Boston College won the women's race with a time of 20:04. Georgetown won the team title with a score of 36 points.
Sophomore John Bitok (Kitale, Kenya/Paul Boit) was the top SU men's runner, finishing 27th out of 112 runners with a time of 25:51. Freshman Tim Scarpinato (Croghan, N.Y./Beaver River) placed 71st with a time of 27:18. The Orangemen finished with a team score of 357.
Connecticut's Dan Wilson won the men's race with a time of 24:22. Notre Dame won the team title, edging out Villanova, 49-52.
Both men's and women's teams will next compete at the NCAA Northeast Regionals in Boston, Mass. on Saturday, Nov. 10.
