
Track Opens ACC Championships

The ACC Championships got started on Thursday with three events for Syracuse student-athletes. 'Cuse had runners in both 5ks and the women's 200-meter dash, with five new personal bests highlighting the first of a three-day meet in Boston.
Three of the six men in the 5,000-meter run set new personal bests, led by Sam Ricchiuti, who crossed the line in 13:56.97. His time was good for second in the first section, before ultimately finishing ninth overall. Louis Small was 10th, also in a career-best time of 13:56.75. Connor Ackley (14:00.54) and Connell Alford (14:01.06) took 16th and 17th, respectively, with Alford's time serving as a new PR. Assaf Harari (14:02.46), was 21st, and Peter Walsdorf (14:12.37) was 25th, to round out the finishers.
In the women's 5k, Emma Eastman won the first section in a time of 16:09.09, which held up for 11th overall after the seeded section later in the evening. Madeline Heintz set a personal best time of 16:12.68, taking 15th overall. Jayden Harberts also PRed, finishing in 16:17.82.
Freshman Indie Wallace-Persaud was disqualified for stepping over a lane line in the 200-meters.
