The Orangemen are six days away from their exhibition contest with Upstate AAU. Syracuse opens its regular season on Nov. 12 in the first round of the NIT. SUathletics.com is presenting day nine of "Boeheim 25 Years In 25 Days." The Carrier Dome housed record setting attendance and Boeheim captured his 200th coaching victory during the 1984-85 season.
Year IX: Crowds Head to the Carrier Dome
Syracuse had a record setting year in attendance. The Orangemen played before a national record 388,049 spectators in 15 Carrier Dome appearances. SU's average attendance for a home game was 25,870- also a national record. The Orangemen posted a 22-9 record and tied for third in the Big East with Villanova, the eventual NCAA tournament champions.
In its 15th straight post-season appearance, the Orangemen defeated DePaul, 70-65, in the first round. The Orangemen lost to Georgia Tech, 53-70, in the second round at The Omni in Atlanta, GA.

BIG GAME: Win No. 200
In just his ninth season as head coach, Jim Boeheim recorded his 200th career coaching. The Orange’s 94-62 victory against Seton Hall upped the season record to 18-4 overall and 8-4 in the Big East. Coach Boeheim gained his 200th victory against just 66 losses in his ninth year. All 13 Orangemen scored, including walk-ons Joel Katz and Melvin Brown, whose points were their first ever. The Orangemen's bench combined for 96 minutes of playing time and outscored the SU's starting five, 48-46.
