On Monday, November 12, Syracuse plays Manhattan at the Carrier Dome in the first round of the NIT. The game will open SU coach Jim Boeheim's 26th year as the leader of Orangemen basketball. SUathletics.com is presenting the 13th season in "Boeheim 25 Years In 25 Days." The 1988-89 campaign was SU's second consecutive 30-win season. In his final season, Sherman Douglas continued to leave his mark on the Orange record book.

Jim Boeheim reached the 300 win mark this season when the Orangemen defeated St. Francis (PA) 105-63. Boeheim is the third fastest to reach this mark.
BIG GAME: Hoyas in the Dome
In their second meeting of the season, the Orangemen defeated the Georgetown Hoyas 82-76 in overtime. The game, which was played in the Carrier Dome in front of 32, 683 fans was the Orange's final game of the regular season and set a new on-campus record in attendance. It was the largest crowd to watch a basketball game at the Carrier Dome in the 1980s. Derrick Coleman turned in a stellar performance with 21 points and 13 rebounds, while senior All-American Sherman Douglas had 16 points to go along with five assists. Freshman Alonzo Mourning scored 16 points and had 7 rebounds as the starting center for the Hoyas. Georgetown had depth at the center position with sophomore, Dikembe Mutombo coming off the bench scoring just six points and collecting six rebounds.
