Shumpert's Career-High 37 Points Leads SU Past Albany, 91-65

ALBANY, NY -Senior forward Preston Shumpert scored a career-high 37 points and tied a school record with eight three-pointers to lead 12th-ranked Syracuse (8-0) past Albany, 91-65, on Sunday afternoon at Pepsi Arena.
Shumpert was 12-of-24 from the field, eight-of-15 from three-point range and five-of-six from the free-throw line. He tied his own school record for most three-pointers made in a game after connecting on eight baskets from behind the arc against Connecticut on Feb. 19, 2001.
Syracuse led at the break, 45-23, and increased its lead to as much as 34, 80-46, in the second half with 7:40 left in the game. SU shot 46 percent from the field, and its defense held the Great Danes to 23-of-78 shooting (29.5 percent) for the game.
Several other Orangemen had career-high marks. Sophomore James Thues recorded a personal-best nine points, tied a career high with five rebounds and dished out seven assists. Freshman Craig Forth pulled down a personal-best nine rebounds, chipped in six points and had five blocks on the day.
Junior Kueth Duany joined Shumpert in double figures with 15 points on seven-of-11 shooting from the field, and freshman Hakim Warrick pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.
