
Things Are Fine As SU Wins Ninth Straight

SYRACUSE, NY - Senior forward Preston Shumpert scored 26 points and junior guard DeShaun Williams added 23 to lead #9 Syracuse to its ninth straight win, a 91-65 victory against Hofstra on Tuesday night in the Carrier Dome.
The Orangemen were without Coach Jim Boeheim, who was on a medical leave. Associate Head Coach Bernie Fine led the team in Boeheim's absence. It was the first contest Boeheim has missed in his tenure at Syracuse.
Shumpert's 26 points moved him into 23rd place on SU's all-time scorers list with 1,368 points. With his four three-pointers on the night, Shumpert also moved into second place at Syracuse with 191 career three-pointers. Lawrence Moten owns the record with 197.
Williams tied a season-high with his 23 points. He also dished out a season-high seven assists and pulled down a personal-best seven rebounds.
The Pride came within seven points of the lead, 50-43, in the opening minutes of the second half before the Orangemen put the game away with a 22-9 run. Syracuse extended the score by as much as 28 points, 91-63, before taking a 91-65 win.
SU shot 62 percent from the field and was 10-of-20 from behind the arc. Junior Kueth Duany and freshman Hakim Warrick joined Shumpert and Williams in double figures with 15 and 10 points, respectively.
