
Freeney & Harris Recognized By ABC Sports Online

Freeney was named the BIG EAST Co-Defensive Player of the Year and a unanimous selection to the All-BIG EAST First Team. He has been honored as an All-American by the Football Writers Association of America, Football News and CNNSI.com for his record-setting performance this season.
Freeney is a finalist for the Bednarik Award which will be announced Thursday as part of the ESPN College Football Awards Show. The Bednarik Award is presented to the nation's outstanding defensive player by the Maxwell Football Club.
He is also a finalist for the 2001 Bronko Nagurski Trophy, which is presented annually to college's best all-around defensive football player by the Football Writers Association of America and the Charlotte Touchdown Club. The organizations will name the winner and present the trophy at the annual gala, held at the Adam's Mark Hotel in downtown Charlotte, NC on December 10.
Harris, a second team All- BIG EAST selection, led the Orangemen with 126 tackles. Harris' four interceptions tied for both the team lead and third in the BIG EAST. Harris' 10 career interceptions ranks ninth on the all-time list at SU.
