
Orangewomen Lose to Top-Ranked Notre Dame 76-61

Beth Record (Shortsville, NY) led the way for the Orangewomen, scoring a game-high 25 points and grabbing a team-high seven rebounds. Leaf Newman (Perris, CA) came off the bench to add 10 points for the Orange.
After shooting 36.7 percent in the first half, the Orangewomen were down 10, 37-27, at the half. Twice in the first four minutes of the second half SU cut the Notre Dame lead to six. Record scored six of Syracuse's first 10 points in the second half.
Syracuse shot 50 percent from the field in the second half. It is only the second time in the last six games that SU has converted at least 50 percent of its shots in a half. For the game, the Orangewomen shot 43 percent, which is 10 points higher than Notre Dame's BIG EAST leading defensive field goal percentage of .338.
The Syracuse's defense limited the Irish's three-point shooting attack. Notre Dame, who came into the game leading the BIG EAST in three-point shooting (49 percent), was held to 1 of 6 from behind the three point arc.
Ruth Riley led Notre Dame, scoring 24 points to go with a game-high 11 rebounds.
Syracuse hosts Seton Hall at home on Saturday, February 17 at 8 p.m.
