Nine SU Volleyball Players Named to Athletic Directors Honor Roll

Seven of the nine honorees made a repeat appearance on the team. Senior Sarah Simmons (Avon Lake, OH/Avon Lake) made the team for her ninth consecutive semester. Senior Drisana Carey (San Diego, CA/University of San Diego HS) made her seventh appearance on the list. Classmate Julie Nicholson (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) made the honor roll for the sixth time.
Juniors Noreen Carroll (LaGrange, IL/Lyons) and Carol Munger (Canandaigua, NY/Canadaigua Academy) each made repeat appearances. It was Carroll’s fifth and Munger’s fourth appearance on the list. Sophomores Jen Crownover (Aurora, CO) and Abby Van Mater (West Chester, PA) are three-time honorees, while freshmen Christen Casey (Long Beach, IN/Marquette) and Michaela Skelly (Simi Valley, CA) appeared for the first time.
Of the nine student-athletes named to the squad, five achieved grade point averages of 3.4 or higher. Carroll, Crownover, Simmons, Skelly and Van Mater will be recognized for their efforts at the Syracuse-Connecticut men’s basketball game on February 19 at the Carrier Dome.
The Orangewomen were 24-10 in 2000 and placed fifth in the BIG EAST with a 6-4 mark.
