
Carusone and Jones Earn All-BIG EAST Honors at Conference Championship

The Orangewomen also had an All-BIG EAST performer in senior hurdler Opal Jones (Capitol Heights, MD). Jones finished third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.47. Jones provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championship during the preliminary round on Saturday, clocking an 8.41, the fastest time during the prelims.
Junior sprinter Alison Culley (Foxborough, MA) scored in two events for the Orangewomen. For the second straight day, Culley broke her own school record in the 60-meter dash, finishing fourth with a time of 7.59. Culley had previously set the record with a 7.60 during Saturday's preliminaries. Culley also ran a season-best in the 200-meter dash, crossing the tape in fifth place with a 24.79 clocking.
Junior Aprelle Watkins (Virginia Beach, VA) rounded out the Orangewomen scoring with an eighth-place finish in the triple jump. Watkins recorded a leap of 39'02.5".
On the men's side, sophomore Steve Bedard (Windsor, Ontario) finished seventh in the shot put with a mark of 52'00.50". The Orangemen scored in both throwing events following sophomore Tim Adrian's (Moorpark, CA) seventh-place showing in Saturday's weight throw.
Also for the Orangemen, sophomore Richard Polidore (Chino, CA) recorded an eighth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.41.
Georgetown won both the men's and women's team titles. Syracuse finished 12th on the women's side and 13th for the men's championship.
The Orangemen and Orangewomen will travel to Boston for the ECAC and IC4A Indoor Championships on March 3-4.
